The traditional annual TASCA Workshop on Recoil Separator for Superheavy Element Chemistry & Physics took place on May 10-12, 2022. This year’s workshop marked the 20th anniversary of the workshop series, which started in 2002.
After last year’s fully virtual format, it was held this year as a hybrid event, running over three half-days. About 15 participants enjoyed the new freedom to travel and to join in person at GSI, and more than 150 additional ones from 24 countries all over the world participated online.

Some of the participants who attended the workshop "in person" (from left to right): M. Grebo (Dresden), M. Schädel (GSI), F. P. Heßberger (GSI), E. Tereshatov (Texas A&M Univ.), J. Piot (GANIL), C. Düllmann (JGU / GSI / HIM), A. Utepov (GANIL), A. Yakushev (GSI) and P. Giubellino (GSI)

The workshop fostered intense exchanges and discussions of the newest scientific results, ideas and future plans. The program comprised presentations from other heavy ion accelerator facilitates including JYFL Jyväskylä (Finland), JAEA Tokai (Japan), RIKEN Wako-shi (Japan), GANIL Caen (France), and covered the most important topics of superheavy element research: production of heavy nuclei in the complete fusion and multi-nucleon transfer reactions, nuclear spectroscopy, atomic physics studies as well as chemical investigations. The highlight results were complemented with contributions on new technical developments, e.g., the superconducting continuous wave linear accelerator HElmholtz LInear ACcelerator (HELIAC, a joint project of GSI, HIM/Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and Goethe University Frankfurt), and new detection systems at RIKEN, JYFL, GANIL and GSI.
Also the opportunity to again have a joint dinner was welcomed by the participants.
